Who we are

Horizon Haven is a short-term rental home in Alton, Illinois. The website altonbnb.com provides property information and direct-booking access. Direct bookings and certain guest workflows may be handled through OwnerRez, and payments may be processed by Stripe or other payment providers. Bookings made through Airbnb, Vrbo, or another channel are also subject to that channel's own privacy policy and terms.

How we use information

• Respond to inquiries and provide quotes or availability information.
• Create, confirm, manage, modify, or cancel reservations.
• Send stay-related messages, including rental agreement, check-in, checkout, house rules, receipts, payment, and security-deposit communications.
• Process payments, card authorizations, refunds, damage claims, and receipts through payment processors.
• Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website and booking flow.
• Comply with legal, tax, accounting, platform, safety, fraud-prevention, insurance, dispute-resolution, and recordkeeping obligations.

Booking channels and marketplace reservations

If you book through Airbnb, Vrbo, or another marketplace, that platform controls parts of your booking, payment, messaging, and account data. We receive and use the information that the channel makes available to hosts for reservation management and stay support. Marketplace reservations should generally be managed through the marketplace's messaging, payment, support, and resolution tools unless a separate legally required or operationally necessary process is disclosed to you.

Payments, deposits, rental agreements, and receipts

Direct bookings may require a rental agreement, payment, security-deposit authorization, incidental hold, or similar booking requirement. These workflows may be provided by OwnerRez, Stripe, or another service provider. We do not intentionally store full payment card numbers on altonbnb.com. Payment processors and booking providers handle payment data under their own security standards and privacy policies.

Receipts and payment confirmations may be sent by Stripe, OwnerRez, the booking channel, or Horizon Haven depending on how the reservation was made.

How we share information

We share information only as reasonably needed to operate the rental, provide the stay, protect the property and guests, comply with law, or run the website and booking systems. This may include sharing with:

• Booking platforms such as Airbnb, Vrbo, OwnerRez, and similar reservation systems.
• Payment processors such as Stripe and related fraud-prevention or receipt services.
• Cleaning, maintenance, repair, guest-support, insurance, tax, accounting, legal, technology, and security providers.
• Government, law-enforcement, courts, regulators, or insurers when required or appropriate for legal, safety, tax, or dispute reasons.

We do not sell guest personal information.

Marketing communications

We may send marketing or repeat-stay communications only where allowed by law and platform rules, and only when we have an appropriate basis to do so. You can ask us to stop non-essential marketing emails by contacting stay@altonbnb.com. Transactional, safety, booking, legal, payment, and stay-related messages may still be sent when needed to manage a reservation.

Cookies and analytics

altonbnb.com and embedded booking tools may use cookies, pixels, local storage, or similar technologies for site functionality, analytics, security, fraud prevention, and booking flow operation. Browser settings may allow you to block or delete cookies, but some booking or website features may not work properly without them.

Data retention

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary for reservations, guest support, legal compliance, accounting, tax, insurance, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, property protection, and business records. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and how the booking was made.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or restriction of certain personal information. You may also have the right to opt out of certain marketing communications. To make a request, email stay@altonbnb.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

If you booked through a marketplace, you may also need to use that platform's privacy tools for account-level requests.

Children

The website and booking flow are intended for adults who can make lodging reservations. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Information about children included in a reservation is used only as needed to manage the stay and comply with booking, safety, or legal obligations.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures and rely on established providers for booking and payment processing. No website, email system, or online service can guarantee perfect security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when the current version was posted. Continued use of the website or booking services after an update means the updated policy applies going forward.
